Last night while sitting in my new apartment by myself, I re-watched '(500) Days of Summer.' What an amazing movie. It is always what I knew that I wanted my next novel to be. No title as of yet, but I hope to be struck by inspiration soon. I particularly liked the nonlinear narrative style, which is what I plan on doing.
Do you guys have any books or movies that have inspired you in your novels for this summer?
"Look, I know you think she was the one, but I don't. Now, I think you're just remembering the good stuff. Next time you look back, I, uh, I really think you should look again."

Great movie. I loved every moment of it. I have a tv series that help inspire me. its called harpers Island and it is terrible but i liked part of the concept and ideas of it. also I will be using some inspiration from Dexter. Looking forward to this year's writing sessions!
ReplyDeleteyay! This came up in my RSS feed so I knew it was there!!
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago my inspiration was Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day plus faux queens. This year, a novel you hated - The Guernsey etc etc.
I've got to start reading novels written in letters, stat!
I didn't hate TGLAPPPS! I guess that I just didn't like it as much as you did. It will be really interesting to read your novel that is all letters, though. It seems like everyone is really trying new things this year.
ReplyDeleteSadly my inspiration last year was so non-literary it brings shame upon my family name to this day, my inspiration was struck looking at t-shirts online.
ReplyDeleteHeather, no one here can really judge, me in particular. The basis for my first novel was my love for that blonde hottie on the Spain squad called Fernando, and an ABBA song. Ew.
